Crown Your Keyblade Wielder: The Ultimate Guide to Getting Sora’s Crowns in KH2 Final Mix
For any Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix player, seeing Sora rock a sleek, metallic crown atop his spiky hair is the ultimate badge of honor. It’s not just a stylish cosmetic accessory—it is physical proof that you have conquered the absolute hardest challenges the game has to offer.
Whether you are looking to sport a humble bronze piece or aiming high for the prestigious gold standard, getting Sora’s crown requires mastering the game’s toughest post-game content.
How the Crown System Works
In KH2 Final Mix, Sora’s crown evolves based on how many “Proofs” you have collected. There are three specific endgame trials, and conquering each rewards you with a unique Proof.
- 1 Proof: Copper / Bronze Crown
- 2 Proofs: Silver Crown
- 3 Proofs: Gold Crown
You can tackle these challenges in any order you prefer. Once earned, the proofs stay in your inventory, and Sora will automatically wear his crown across almost all worlds and cutscenes.
Step 1: The Three Trials (How to Earn the Proofs)
To build your way up to the ultimate Gold Crown, you must conquer three monumental feats:
1. Proof of Connection (Conquer the Lingering Will)
- The Challenge: Travel to Disney Castle’s Cornerstone Hill and step through the mysterious portal to face the Lingering Will (Terra’s armor animated by sheer willpower).
- What it takes: Widely considered one of the hardest bosses in video game history, the Lingering Will demands absolute mastery of blocking, dodging, and reacting. His attacks hit like a truck, and he can trap you in inescapable combos if you aren’t careful. Learn his patterns, abuse limit forms wisely, and stay patient.
- The Reward: Proof of Connection (and your first crown tier).
2. Proof of Nonexistence (Defeat Data Organization XIII)
- The Challenge: Head to the Garden of Assemblage in The World That Never Was and defeat all 13 data replicas of Organization XIII.
- What it takes: These aren’t your average story bosses; they are powered-up, hyper-aggressive versions of every Organization member. Fights like Data Demyx, Data Xemnas, and Data Roxas will test your reflexes to the absolute limit. Bring plenty of Elixirs, use appropriate Drive Forms, and master your guard timing.
- The Reward: Proof of Nonexistence.
3. Proof of Peace (Conquer the Mushroom XIII)
- The Challenge: Find and complete the unique minigame trials for all 13 Mushroom XIII Heartless scattered across various worlds.
- What it takes: Unlike the brutal combat of the Data Replicas and Lingering Will, the Mushrooms require specific puzzle-like proficiency, precision timing, and high-score thresholds (typically a B-rank or higher on all of them). From juggling Mushroom No. 5 in Hollow Bastion to racing against the clock with Mushroom No. 8 in Atlantica, these require targeted strategies. Equipping magic-boosting Keyblades (like Bond of Flame) and spamming abilities like Firaga can turn chaotic mushroom trials into manageable runs.
- The Reward: Proof of Peace.
The Progression: From Bronze to Gold
As soon as you secure your very first Proof—whichever one you choose to do first—Sora’s head will be graced with the Bronze Crown.
Knock out a second challenge, and the crown upgrades to a shimmering Silver Crown.
